In native (not .NET) applications on Vista, when the button is not focused and it is clicked (or pushed), it is pushed immediately. In this version of the Button control, however, does it fade in a little, even when it gets pushed when it didn't have the focus before. I think this is a small yet possibly important factor because it would give an even better Vista look and feel (especially feel).

Please let me know what you think and whether it would be possible to implement this. Thanks.

New Post: WPF

I was wondering if there are plans for WPF interoperability at any point. The only control I'm interested in is the ThemedLabel. I don't feel like manually drawing text, but I'd like to be ale to use all of the WPF controls. Thanks in advance.

New Post: Windows Explorer Header

One option that you have available that maybe out of the realm of this project (since this project is Winforms) is to upgrade this project to the .Net Framework 3.5 and then create the bread crumb/forward back buttons and search box in WPF and then host them via an ElementHost in the WinForm (and/or, write a wrapper control to make it easier to use). I don't think that fits into this project IMO, but I personally am going that route myself because I want to closely mimic the animation type feel, but I also want to use WinForms (for multiple reasons including, I've been using them since their inception, I have a ton of code already revolving around them, the designer in VS 2008 is far less frustrating, controls are easily bindable to data without jumping through hoops and I just enjoy them in general). That being said though, I have no problem leverging WPF where it makes sense. :)

I'm probably going to write a wrapper control myself to a WPF IE like search control, it likely won't be included here but when I'm done I'd be happy to share it otherwise.

New Post: Windows Explorer Header

I've been trying to accomplish this and it's much more difficult than it is with WPF. I know how to get the TextBox onto the glass and render correctly (you have to redraw it as an image when the paint message comes through) and I'm going to make that update soon.. however some of the fade animations are a little more cumbersome with WinForms. I've got this on my mind though.. dunno if I'll be able to recreate it well enough to publish but I'll give it a shot.

New Post: What are you waiting for? Notice the changes, the shield is no longer Red, Green, Yellow and Blue; instead it is a Yellow, Blue, Yellow, Blue in colour coordination.
Just wanted to point out you could make quite a hit in development libraries ready for the release of Windows 7, if you start making Windows 7 Desktop Experience Library Programming happen now.
http://keznews.com/5153_Windows_7_Build_6956_Gallery_–_160_Screenshots
I found a few screenshots, some areas cover Windows Forms Aero, including the new Scenic Control theme, Aero is currently the same, but Scenic surrounds the controls, and not Aero, Scenic is ready for Aero 2.0, Microsoft admits this might not come out in this issue of Windows NT, so no need to change the DWM control just as yet, I'm sure Windows would handle the theme anyway.
I'm just trying to say a 7Controls would be a hit, simple as.
Thanks.

I've just come up with a partial solution. The reason the TaskDialog doesn't work when using them in a VSTO Add-in in Outlook is that Outlook doesn't use the windows common controls. By editing the manifest and adding another dependency node for the common controls the TaskDialogs now work great.

Now to see if there is way to get them to work without needing to edit Outlook's Manifest.

I would assume this would be possible as the messagebox works fine from a VSTO solution, but no matter what I try this just doesn't seem to work. I have some code that lets me get the current Outlook Window Handle, however this doesn't seem to work with or without the Window Handle.

Would there be any reason this wouldn't work with a VSTO add-in for Outlook?
Maybe also the side pannel, can be done normally using standard .NET controls, but just wondered if they all came together...?

Anyway, i think what you've done here is fantastic! Only done on vista, but still, very useful, thanks a lot!
Hi guys, I need a Visual Studio debugger-style hierarchical "DataTip" control for my project, and I wanted to ask you if you'd want me to check it in here. It's not really Aero nor as generally useful as the tab control, but still, someone might find it useful. I'm not expecting myself to implement the RTL layout or accessibility interface for it -- I doubt Visual Studio does support that, either. Only basic mouse and keyboard navigation, plus some kind of IExtenderProvider or Component wrapper so the user needs not to deal with the form directly.

BTW that's the reason behind DropShadowForm. It currently looks like this: V2_Preview
@jachymko: you are doing one hell of a job! Great work. ;)
I'm sorry I can't contribute right now (upcoming exams...), but I hope to be active again in a month or so... (and I'll need time to dig through all changes you are making)
Hey guys - I need to rewrite part of the hook component into unmanaged C++, so don't be scared if you see a VC++ project in there. It's gonna be a single function (maybe more of them, if I turn it into a general-purpose hook library, but for now, keyboard hooks are all I'm interested in), and the resulting DLL will be embedded as a resource in the main assembly, so you don't need VC++ installed, unless you actually want to change or build the C++ code.
OK, "Windows Forms Aero" then :) Do you change the CodePlex project? We need to port rest of the controls to the new project and we can make a 2.0 release :) Who wants to do the ButtonBase stuff? :)
I agree with "Windows Forms Aero" too. Or, what about "Aero Windows Forms"?
To create an unowned dialog (not modal) you'll have to create an instance of TaskDialog (which makes sense, because you'll most likely will have to keep a reference to the dialog) and then call Show() with a null pointer.
However, the static methods try to map as closely as possible to those of MessageBox, I think it's safe to assume that TaskDialogs will most likely be used as standard modal dialogs.
Oh, then it's probably fine. But how does one make an unowned dialog / message box then?
